Panama City Escapades

A little about how I ended up in Panama

May 2, 2013

For my first blog post I would just like to introduce myself.  My name is Joey Bonura, I’m from Louisville, KY and I have been living in Panama for almost two years now.  I started working for AngloINFO a few months ago and I am really enjoying it.   Here is a quick version of how I ended up in Panama:

For college I started at the University of Louisville and while I was there I became good friends with some of the students that studied there from Panama.  Since I had a curiosity to see the rest of the world, I decided that I wanted to see Panama.  So I booked a trip with my new Panamanian friends and spent two weeks exploring the country.  This led to a few more trips to Panama and then eventually I made the decision that I wanted to finish the rest of college there.  In 2011, I sold my car and furniture then packed my life in two suitcases and bought my one-way ticket.

Since I have been here I have done an internship at a multinational, gotten pretty good at Spanish, been in a few Panamanian commercials, and will be graduating from Empire State College (one of the American universities that has a Panama campus) in June 2013.  I also brought my dog Riley here and he loves the hot weather!

I have really enjoyed my time in Panama and I hope that by sharing my experiences and what I have learned, that other people will like it as much as I do.
