During my recent trip back to Italy, I had a huge wake up call. It was as if someone had taken me by the shoulders, shook me and said “Wake Up Woman!!” Like a champagne cork popping, this explosion of overwhelming emotion happened to me unexpectedly in the Piazza Della Signoria – Florence. Once this emotion uncapped itself, tears streamed down my face like an overflowing fountain. I tried to stop it, telling myself to “Get a Grip” but, I couldn’t. This did not happen 1 time, but 4 times in that same Piazza, then on another street behind the Piazza and pretty much through my 4 hour train ride back to Rome. It was on that train back to Rome thru my tears of happiness that I made the decision to take a Leap of Faith. Upon my return to Vancouver, I quit my secure Government job of 17+ years (effective August 26, 2011).
So here starts my Blog about my Italy experiences: past, present & future.
Past: the 2 trips which I call the precursor leading up to my decision
Present: the next steps as I prepare for Italy;
Future: the everyday experiences, language studies and getting creative again!
I am not sure if I will be calling Italy home for 1 year, 3 months or indefinitely but I do know that it will be quite the journey and I am ready to continue my exploration of the past in the present – the Gift I call Italy.
