Argentina has its problems but they are largely home made. Effects of global warming is not one of them.
There appears to be accepted a not very-well validated opinion that global warming is caused by human-made environmental pollution. China leads the list of “polluters” by contributing 27% of the total global carbon dioxide from the consumption of energy, with the USA featuring second with contributing 17%, followed by Russia with 5%, India with 5% and Japan with 4%, i.e., 58% of the pollution is being generated by just 5 (FIVE) countries.
Argentina does not even appear on the list of first 20 polluters; it occupies position 59 of the total of some 100+ countries.
It is then not laughable that huge amount of effort (including not so green travel) and money have been spent on Governments “talking”; there have been 21 conferences since 1992 producing nothing more than non-binding commitments lacking enforcement mechanisms.
Argentina will no doubt suffer disproportional consequences of global warming but cannot do anything about it.
