Brisbane My Town

Summer… where are you?

January 18, 2012

I don’t know about you but I don’t feel like we have had a real Summer in Brisbane this year…

Normally we have very hot days followed by a wonderful storm in the afternoon to break the heat.  This Summer we have had very mild days of between 24-27 C with a few hot days of 32-34C and only a couple of 35-37C with Ipswich having 38 C.  I am missing the days where I feel so hot that I just can’t wait to go for a swim at the pool or go for a drive to the beach to cool down.

In my house we have only turned on the air conditioner once this Summer and it was at night so that we could get to sleep.  I do have a very good tolerance to heat and do not feel the need to use the A/C unless it is unbearably hot (over 35C).  Otherwise a fan and a nice cold drink is enough for me.

So far the Summer has been very mild and many have really enjoyed the cooler afternoons (especially the elderly :) ).

If you are an expat living in Brisbane, how have you found our Summer this year?  Please leave a comment and let me know how you feel about Brisbane Summers.
