Sometimes we get stuck in the same routines, we go to the same places and do the same things. The first weeks or months in a new city are an exciting challenge but after a while of settling in, your own routine takes over. You end up going to the same places, meeting the same people and doing the same things.
Luckily Bogota is a city full of events and excitement, and for the upcoming days, full of design. So, in an effort to stay away from the routine and try new things, we will be writing here about different events that get us Bogota dwellers out of our routine and the Bogota Design Festival seems like the perfect plan to get out of the rut, learn a bit about design and discover new places to add to the usual for browsing.
Every year about 20 cities worldwide recreate the Design Festival model that was started in 2003 in London. For the first time in Colombia, national and international companies join the BDF opening their commercial spaces for the public to appreciate design and innovation in their original space. This way, the companies use the existing infrastructure to host activities, events, product launches and promote their brand while the visitors, walk around finding out what design in the city has to offer.
From the 3rd to the 7th of March the Bogota Design Festival (BDF) takes place fro the first time.
The first edition of this festival is defined over three axes of the city. The idea is that the visitors get to know the stores and locations of the companies that bring national and international design to Bogota. The event takes place directly at their place of business, stores, spaces, shops, workshops, exhibition halls, galleries, restaurants and hotels where every aspect of design is explored.
The event will take place over three axes:
Carrera11 between Calles 90 and 97.
Carrera 9 between Calles 76 and 82
Carrera 19 between Calles 100, 109 and up to 116
Agenda and Map in hand, visitors can walk themselves through the spaces of the event where creativity and creation in all its stages and expressions is exhibited through industrial and artistic objects, digital, gastronomic, fashion or interior design exercise an impact on the commercial, cultural and popular, creating the identity of Bogota as a city.
The BDF is born as an initiative from the creative industry incubator called PRANA, a non for profit rganization aiming to help entrepreneurs in creative industries to accelerate the process of formation, growth and consolidation of their businesses.
