Bits and Pieces from Buenos Aires

Alicia Moreau de Justo

March 8, 2012

It’s inevitable on this International Women’s Day to think of women who have lived in Buenos Aires and left a strong mark even after leaving. What about somebody who was the fourth female doctor to graduate in the country, back in 1914, an active feminist and a strong human rights campaigner in perhaps the darkest period of our history, when she was 90 years old? Alicia Moreau de Justo died when she was 100 years old, highly respected by all Argentineans. The main street in the Puerto Madero district carries her name, among other famous women of our history. You can read more about her life here and here.
